About us

The East London Boxing Academy (ELBA) is a non-profit voluntary boxing club based in the Borough of Waltham Forest. Established in 2012 following the conclusion of the Olympic Games the club has grown to become one of the most successful boxing clubs in London.

Situated in East London we provide opportunities to young people who are seeking a new challenge; A vibrant, vigorous sport which meets their aspirations to channel their energies and aggressions in a controlled and disciplined environment.

There are no barriers to participation; Age, gender, race, demography or identity and ELBA welcomes and supports participants with disabilities and volunteers.

The Gym


Located at Drapers Field Recreational Ground, the gym is a real, old school, no-frills boxing gym for both boxers and those interested in improving their fitness. It is equipped with everything you will need to learn and train; Featuring a competition-size boxing ring, skipping ropes, medicine balls, a weights room, a bag room kitted out with water bags, heavy bags, speed bags, floor-to-ceiling bags, uppercut bags and more.

The gym has been set up with competition conditioning, circuit training and general fitness firmly in mind and offers a motivating, challenging and inspiring environment. Come and see for yourself!

The Classes


Running 5 nights a week and on Sunday mornings, classes are structured and mixed to cater for people of all abilities and fitness levels.


If you are new to boxing we will, starting from the basics, teach you about every aspect of the sport in a friendly, safe and non-threatening environment. If you’re a boxer, we will work on your technique, fitness & conditioning and prepare you for the challenges ahead.

The Coaches


The coaches comprise of 6 qualified ABA/England Boxing coaches (and growing) who vary from a local volunteer to an ex-international boxer who has sparred and trained alongside the likes of Carl Froch (world champion) James Degale (world champion) and George Groves (world title challenger), a life-long competitive fighter with over 20 years Muay Thai experience and a regular at the Wild Card Boxing Club under the acclaimed Freddie Roach in the United States.

There is a wealth of experience and enthusiasm for the sport and we would like to share it with you.
